What is an “Ebenezer”? And what does it have to do with the year 2020 that we’re saying goodbye to? Ebenezer in Hebrew means “stone of help.” In the Bible, Samuel named a stone “Ebenezer” to remind everyone of the good that God did for them in the midst of chaos and panic. When they didn’t know how they’d get through it, God was there to BRING them through it. 2020 has been a year full of nixed expectations and difficulty for most of us, but let’s put all that behind us and raise ebenezers to the good things God has done!
Challenge: Raise your Ebenezer! Think about this year and make a list of GOOD things that happened. It can be a short list or a long one. You may even have to look pretty hard into what happened this year. But let those good things that God did in your life define how 2020 went for you and how you remember this year for years to come.
