Daily Devo 87 – Christmas Lists

It’s that time of year again. Thanksgiving has ended and Christmas ads are starting to pop up everywhere. It’s so easy and tempting to continually think of more items that we want that might make our lives more complete. Psalm 23 says, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want,” which calls us to focus on Jesus, the greatest gift ever and it’s already been given to us!

My challenge to you today is to reflect on your wants this Christmas season. In this season it gets so easy to get caught up in the antics of all the stuff we can get and receive. Take time to reflect on the fact that you already have everything in Christ. I’m not saying that Christmas gifts are evil or you shouldn’t be happy when you get them, but take time to realize that the greatest gift is something that you have already been given. When you focus on the fact that you already have everything, anything else becomes worthless.
