Have you ever been so thirsty, only to drink something but still be left unsatisfied? In John 4, Jesus meets a thirsty woman at a water well who is secretly desperate to fill her empty heart. His conversation with her transforms her entire life. As followers of Jesus, we are called to be honest with ourselves about where we’re going to quench desires that aren’t God. These things always leave us unsatisfied, but God is where we can find what we’re really looking for.
My challenge to you today is a two-part challenge. First, examine your life: what are you going back to again and again, trying to find satisfaction? Second, have a conversation about this with someone who is walking with you in your faith. When we are open about what is taking us away from Christ it allows us as a community of believers to push each other to pursue after the One who actually does satisfy our desires.
