Have you ever given someone a compliment and they just wouldn’t accept it? Jesus is actually given a huge compliment in John 3, but he’s not impressed for multiple reasons. We’re not here to compliment or show respect to Jesus as if we’ll get something in return. We have to ask ourselves this question: do you want God’s blessings or do you want God himself? In the reverse, God loves you for YOU. He places value in YOU and he declares who YOU are. This is the example that we are called to follow as we follow after Jesus: Love God for who he is, not just how He can benefit you.
Challenge: read Isaiah 43:1-7. It’s pretty epic. Sit down and read how God looks at you through his eyes and says, “you’re precious to me.” Let God be God and just love you like he does, and let that move you closer to him.
