Daily Devo 72 – Close, But…

One of my favorite sayings is “close but no cigar.” I never knew where it came from, though. Turns out cigars used to be prizes at carnivals, so when you’d get close but then lose, the vendor would say “close but no cigar.”

Jesus’ words in John 3:16 are heard so often that it’s easy for us to forget that these words change the world. They’re filled with incredible news! Don’t miss it: God sacrificed his own Son so that He could spend ETERNITY with YOU!

Challenge: reflect and pray about the gift that God has given you. Thank God for the gift of new life that he has given you here on Earth and also for the life to come in heaven. When we thank God for the gift of eternal life, it allows us to live a life full of love and peace knowing that Christ loved you so much to die for you and bear the punishment you deserve for your sin.
