Daily Devo 68 – Spontaneous Faith

I remember during my first year of college, my friends randomly asked me if I wanted to go to the Grand Canyon with them. But I had so much homework to do. So what did I do? I dropped everything and got in my friend’s car and went to see one of the seven wonders of the world. It was one of the coolest days of my life! In John 1:35, Jesus is called “the Lamb of God,” and hearing this, two guys just drop everything and go to follow Jesus. Today we have so many distractions keeping us from following Christ—but He calls us to be willing to drop literally everything and follow Him.

Challenge: be willing to drop everything to fully pursue Jesus. Look at your life and see if you are willing. We live in a time that says we must follow certain things in order to fit in or be cool. But often times these things trap us and bring us nothing but pain, anxiety, and struggles. When you’re willing to drop everything and pursue Jesus first with everything we are and everything we have, Jesus sets us free from the weight of our old life and allows us to grow freer from sin every day.
