There are some things that Jesus says that are really hard to deal with. Matthew 7:13-14 is one of those, where he calls out how we daily battle against pursuing self or pursuing Jesus. The self-pleasing path is wide and many people take it, but it leads to destruction and pain. Pursuing Jesus is a daily commitment and it’s hard, but it leads to life. Even though it’s hard, God sends his Spirit into our hearts to encourage and empower us, along with encouragement from Jesus followers around us!
Today’s two-part challenge: call or text a friend and reach out to them to ask them if they would walk with you through the narrow gate daily, pushing each other to choose Christ over sin. The second part is to daily start with a prayer asking for the Holy Spirit to fill you with the power and posture to pursue the narrow gate.
When you feel like you are walking through the narrow gate alone, always know that God is helping you walk it and there are fellow believers who are walking through it with you.
