Daily Devo 57 – Fish and Snakes

It doesn’t happen often, but I experienced something incredible: God answered a prayer literally as we were praying. It changed how I see prayer. Prayer is about you persistently going to God because you believe He’ll do what’s best for you. God is genuinely and intimately relational, and we see that from what Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:7-11. God does what is best for us and wants us to come to Him and ask Him to fulfill our needs. He doesn’t give us everything we want (for several reasons), but He’ll always do what’s best for us.

Challenge: Make a list of your prayers. Look at them and pray over them, especially that God helps you see which of your deep longings and requests are really asking for stones and snakes, and for Him to turn those into prayers for bread and fish. And pray persistently knowing that God is listening and acting on your prayers because He wants to do what’s best for you.
