It happens more often than most of us realize–we judge people without even getting to know them. Sometimes our judgement even keeps us from making amazing friends. In Matthew 7, Jesus calls us out on our judging, which is really us unfairly determining someone’s worth. Only God can do that. When He judges us, it doesn’t look good for us because of how we treat Him and others so poorly–but He loves us despite that! He pours Himself into our lives in hopes that He’ll spend eternity with us!
Challenge: when you find yourself judging, paws! First, be humbled and remember that despite the fact that you don’t deserve His love, God generously gives it to you. Then, with that in mind, shift your mindset to extend kindness to the one you were tempted to judge and condemn. In that way, be imitators of Jesus, who daily and richly has grace for us.
