What does “treasure” mean? When I think about it, I think about like pirates or leprechauns… but when Jesus talks about it, he’s saying that sometimes we have things (idols) that we value above God. Things that if we lose them, life is hardly worth living anymore: a job, house, spouse, fame, car, etc. SO many things could take that place as our treasure. God calls us to value Him and our relationship with Him above everything else. This is hard, but when you realize that you struggle with it, that’s when you can actually take concrete steps towards treasuring God like He treasures you.
Challenge: change one thing that’ll help you focus on God. This isn’t to feel bad or guilty about the things you don’t do. God is constantly and unconditionally inviting you into prayer, His Word, and living out the example of Jesus daily. Commit to take a step in forward in one of those areas.
