Daily Devo 32 – Eyes, Hands, and Feet

Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:29-30 that if you eye or hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. Is he serious?? Really what he’s getting at is with things like lust (how we see the world) and anger (what we do in the world), these things are terrible symptoms of an unchecked heart condition. Micah 6:8 tells us to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God, which flies in stark contrast to things like lust and anger. Thanks God that he sent Jesus to pay for and forgive our sins!

Today’s challenge: delete an app. Think about the apps you use and the shows and movies you watch. Is there one giving you opportunity to lust, get angry, or something else that gets in the way of Micah 6:8? Cut it out of your life. It’s far better to cut off something you might even think is essential to life so that you can experience Jesus’ forgiveness and act justly, love mercy, and walk with God.
