GRACE ALONE. FAITH ALONE. GOD'S WORD ALONE.<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWe are Christian<\/b>. This means that we believe that all of us are negatively affected by sin from birth and unable to remedy this problem on our own. We believe that we are rescued from this sin by the undeserved mercy of God. Through faith\u2014a relationship of dependence upon Jesus that God Himself gives us\u2014forgiveness and more become ours. We view God\u2019s Word\u2014the Bible\u2014as the source for this truth and life. We don\u2019t keep this good news to ourselves but seek to serve and love those around us as we bring the saving message of Jesus to the ends of the earth.\n\n

The words of the Apostles’ Creed<\/b><\/a> (see below), along with the Nicene<\/b><\/a> and Athanasian Creed<\/b><\/a>, have served as a summary of Spirit-filled and scriptural belief since the earliest days of Christianity. They summarize what Christians have always confessed and believed and are the truths that we believe, teach, and confess at Gethsemane Church.<\/span>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Apostles\u2019 Creed<\/p>

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,<\/i><\/p>

Maker of heaven and earth,<\/i><\/p>

and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:<\/i><\/p>

Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,<\/i><\/p>

born of the Virgin Mary,<\/i><\/p>

suffered under Pontius Pilate,<\/i><\/p>

was crucified, died, and was buried.<\/i><\/p>

He descended into hell.<\/i><\/p>

On the third day He rose again from the dead.<\/i><\/p>

He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,<\/i><\/p>

from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead.<\/i><\/p>

I believe in the Holy Spirit,<\/i><\/p>

the Holy Christian Church,<\/i><\/p>

the communion of saints,<\/i><\/p>

the forgiveness of sins,<\/i><\/p>

the resurrection of the body,<\/i><\/p>

and the life everlasting.<\/i><\/p>

Gethsemane Church is part of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS<\/strong>).\u00a0 To be Lutheran simply means that we accept the scriptural truths that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century which ultimately led to a renewed focus on the Gospel.<\/p>

As a result we uphold an extravagant and mysterious view of God’s love: that man is saved purely by God’s grace through faith alone, apart from works. We believe that God is so loving and powerful that he is actively working through His Word as well as saving and sustaining sinful men, women and children through his mysterious gifts of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.<\/p>
